Hi there, I’m Emily.

I’m a nutritionist who is really into helping you approach food in a way that makes you feel good from the inside out. I’m based in Ventura, California, but I meet with my clients virtually.

Here’s the quick version of my background:

Masters of Science in Nutrition Education
American University | Washington, DC

Bachelors of Science in Strategic Communication
Minor in Biological Sciences
E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University | Athens, OH

Certified Nutrition Specialist®
Credentialed by the American Nutrition Association® through its Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists™

My views on nutrition are to always help you eat with abundance - not restriction.

By now, you know that I’m a nutritionist. But, I'm also a climber, hiker, outdoor enthusiast, dog mom, and a whole lot more. Allow me to tell you a story!

From competitive horseback riding to my current love for rock climbing, I've always been drawn to sports that connect me to nature, mind, and body. My connection to the outdoors is deeply ingrained, and it's this love that ultimately guided me to where I am now.

However, it wasn’t always this way. I grappled with my own health challenges, and it was through nutrition that I found healing. Learning from other nutrition practitioners, I discovered the profound impact of nourishment on well-being after months of unanswered questions about my health. This, coupled with my passion for the outdoors, inspired me to become a trusted nutritionist specifically for fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

How did I get here?

In the early days of my climbing journey, I experienced it all - from relentless exhaustion to waking up in the dead of night, hungry. That general sense of aches, pains, and being run down was a familiar companion.

I also thought it was completely normal. One day, as I sat on the gym floor, complaining of how awful I felt, it occurred to me: I didn't want to continue down this path. I realized I was eating nowhere near what my body needed to thrive, and once again, nutrition was my source of healing. This struggle is all too familiar to climbers and outdoor athletes navigating demanding training routines, and I saw a need in this community for a trusted nutritionist that could bridge the gap between experience and nutrition science.

My food philosophy centers on abundance, not restriction. I'm here to guide my clients toward a positive relationship with food, encouraging confidence in their food choices.

Having dealt with the confusion of fad diets and conflicting nutrition advice myself, I'm on a mission to simplify nutrition. While the science may be intricate, I believe eating should be easy. My guidance is grounded in evidence, personalized to your unique needs, and above all, practical. In our time together, expect a judgment-free space where I'll stand by your side as we implement lasting changes to your nutrition and lifestyle. I believe in open and honest communication, valuing directness and transparency as key components of my communication.

Most importantly, my approach fosters resilience and recovery, and it cultivates a connection between the mind and body to create a foundation for lifelong wellness and athletic performance.

My vision is to shift the narrative in the outdoor and fitness communities. I want to move from a focus on restriction to one of resilience that supports your health and performance. When we work on eating enough food to meet or even exceed our needs, we can address many of the health issues that arise from under-eating.
